NEWS FLASH: Building Update
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 19th.
Our building is open for business! Our building has passed all inspections and has been reopened. However, there is scaffolding around the sidewalk on the perimeter of the building. You can walk right under it and come in the front door as usual, but you may detect a few more barriers along your walk. Let us know if you need any assistance. The elevators are open and its business as usual inside. The rear parking area remains closed, but parking in the garage on 4th Avenue directly east of our block is available. There will be some construction noises as they replace the siding that was damaged, but we are hoping it will be just a couple more weeks until all is back to normal. Thanks for your cooperation!
UPDATE: Wednesday, April 12th.
The Portland Firefighters and city engineers have inspected our 5th avenue building and have determined that the damage is only superficial damage to the outside facade of the building. However, the building owners, Melvin Mark, are in the process of getting the entire building inspected by a structural engineer and will be making repairs to the damage. Scaffolding has been set up around the perimeter of the building and sidewalk areas. This is to protect pedestrians from any falling siding during repairs. Therefore, the building still remains closed for business and we are told it will remain closed until at least Monday, April 17th.
We have contacted our clients who had appointments with us this week and made arrangements with them on a case by case basis to postpone or work over the phone. In addition, the ACB Central Chapter meeting set to take place in our building this Friday has been canceled.
We would like to thank the Portland Firefighters, city officials and all of our neighbors in the building for doing such a tremendous job in their calm and efficient execution of the evacuation and inspection. It worked like clockwork and everyone was efficient, helpful and polite. We are also confident that Melvin Mark, our landlords and local corporate property managers, are doing a great job in taking care of our building.
We hope to be back to normal next week!
