We believe we provide a valuable, high-quality service. Like all small business owners, we really like to be paid for our work. However, we are keenly aware of and appreciate the fact that for many people dealing with vision loss, finances can be a challenge. This is why we work with each client individually to find funding solutions.

During your free consultation, we will look at your particular situation and talk about the different funding options available. We can often come up with creative solutions that can take the financial burden off our clients so they can concentrate on their training.

Here are a few examples of solutions that may make it possible for you to take advantage of our services:

Vocational Rehabilitation

If you are looking for ways to go to work, you may be eligible for services a vocational rehabilitation service such as the Oregon Commission for the Blind or Washington Department of Services for the Blind. As a vocational rehabilitation client with a career goal, you have the right to free training and other assistance to help you reach your vocational goal. You also have the right to ask your vocational rehabilitation counselor for your training to take place at the training center or with the trainer of your choice. We can work with you and your vocational rehabilitation counselor together to provide funding for our training.

Independent Living Services

If you are retired and not planning to go back to work, you may still qualify for some services through Vocational Rehabilitation to gain the skills to maintain your independence in your own home. We can assist you to work with an agency that provides for independent living services that may be able to provide funding. We also can sometimes work with assisted living centers or senior community centers to provide workshops to train interested members.

Your Child’s School

If your child is experiencing vision loss, they may qualify for special education services through their school. We are sometimes able to work through your child’s Educational Service District or School to provide training, or consult with teachers who work with your child. We are also happy to provide private tutoring to your child.

Your College Services for Students with Disabilities Office

If you are a student in a post secondary institution, they have a legal obligation to assist you to find accommodations for your disability. We can work with your college professors or student services office to come up with solutions to specific issues that they may be struggling with in order to provide you with accommodations.

Workshops and Classes

We sometimes offer workshops and classes where you work together with other participants. This can be an economical way to gain some new skills.

Grants and Charitable Organizations

We are constantly working to develop partnerships with charitable organizations and to take advantage of grant opportunities to cut or eliminate costs to our clients. There may be opportunities to approach organizations and ask for assistance in funding your training.

Sliding Scale

If nothing else can be worked out, we try to make it work anyway. We have to keep our own business expenses in mind, but when we can offer sliding scale rates, we certainly try to do that after other funding avenues have been exhausted. Yes, we need to earn our keep, but the bottom line is that we want you to get the training and services you need.
