Workshop: How to Use Your Camera as a Visual Tool
We invite you to our workshop about using cameras as tools when you are visually impaired. Many people might say, “Why would a blind person be interested in the camera?” Although we might not take the greatest pictures, sometimes, the digital camera on your smart phone or other device is an extremely useful tool for gathering and processing visual information. There are lots of apps that will process the visual information from your camera. Some of the things your camera can do for you that we will be covering are:
- Light Detection
- Object Identification
- Using QR codes and bar code readers to identify products, read recipes, manage prescriptions, etc.
- Identifying color
- Identifying money
- Scanning and reading print material
- Getting live visual assistance
- Aiming and focusing to take pictures
Come and join Nik for a fun workshop with lots of opportunities for experimentation and hands-on practice. You do not h ave to have a camera device to join us, but feel free to bring it if you have one.
